4. Improvise if you don’t have a floatation device.

One way is to use your fishing boots as floaters by turning them upside down such that they become filled with air and then placing one under each arm.

5. Tread in the water with a friend or someone who knows how to swim.

If you don’t know how to swim, it is not advisable to swim alone. Always buddy up with a decent swimmer or have someone on land close by to watch you. This allows for a faster response in case you drown.
